In our music classes we will be singing, dancing, playing games and learning!  Nursery rhymes and action songs, finger play and instrument play will all be used to help teach your child the very basics of musical concepts.  Your child doesn’t know it now, but the loud and soft games we play, the high and low pitch songs, the fast and slow games all have direct links to real musical concepts and terminology.  I will be bringing in a variety of instruments for the children to play; as well as the instruments I personally play – banjo, flute, Irish drum, and ukulele.  The children love it!

Baby Class:  In the baby class we will be exploring new objects – how they feel, how they sound, how they look, etc.  I will bring in scarves, shakers, and bells for these activities.  We will be listening to instruments such as wood blocks, different shakers, triangles, flutes, all with the intent of learning and being exposed to various sounds (timbres) in the world.   Another key element is the dancing we will be doing to help the babies explore the world from new angles, heights, perspectives.  This class provides an opportunity for parents to get out and meet other parents with children of a similar age, and get support, ideas, and friendship.

Toddler Class:   Now that your child is a toddler, our focus in this class we will be exploring ways to develop fine motor dexterity; positive social interactions including turn taking; creativity and self expression; and  vocabulary through singing.   We will play with rhythm sticks, shakers, glockenspiel, and more.  I will, of course also bring in my banjo, flute, Irish drum and ukulele.

“What do I do if my baby stops breathing or what if my child chokes?” These are the most common questions I get from parents and caregivers.

Becoming a parent is an amazing event full of miracles happening every day but it also makes us feel vulnerable and full of new responsibilities. It is all part of this wonderful journey!

There are many things we can do to prepare ourselves and learning how to keep our family safe in the event of an emergency is definitely one of them!

Join me and learn a skill that will save lives!!

With our CPR class you will learn:

• To understand CPR and how best to handle an emergency
• CPR for an adult, child and infant
• CPR with the help of others
• How to use an AED (automated external defibrillator) on an adult, child and infant
• When and how to help a choking adult, child and infant

My classes are interactive and full of fun! We are a breastfeeding and child friendly class and we can be as flexible as you need. Dress comfortably and be ready for a hands on experience!

*Upon successful completion of the course the student will receive a certification valid for 1 year.

Pelvic Floor Fitness Workshop – Friday November 2nd 6:30-8:30pm

Do you pee a little when you run, laugh or sneeze? Wondering what prolapse or diastasis recti is and if you have it? Experiencing pelvic or low back pain? There’s a good chance that your pelvic floor (the area of muscle between your tailbone at the back and pubic bone at the front) and deep core muscles aren’t functioning properly.

Too often, these issues are thought of as the inevitable consequences of childbirth and aging. But guess what – there’s something you can do about it!

Join us for a 2 hour interactive workshop with Stephanie Reynolds, owner of The Willow Studio, where you’ll learn:
If Kegels are right for you, and the proper way to do them
How dysfunction in your core and pelvic floor can lead to disorders like incontinence, prolapse, low back pain, pelvic pain, and diastasis recti (ab separation)
Simple lifestyle modifications and posture adjustments to improve core and pelvic floor health
Stretches and exercises to rehabilitate and strengthen your core and pelvic floor muscles

You’ll leave this workshop with more body awareness, a better understanding of how to prevent and treat pelvic floor disorders, and a handout, complete with a workout routine that you can do at home. As research continues to evolve, we update this workshop so you have the latest information!

This workshop is ideal for any age or stage of life, but is especially recommended for pre and postnatal women (remember, if you have ever had a baby – even 30 years ago – you still have a “postnatal” body!)

Cost: $40 + HST  – pre-registration is required. Limited space.
